Hi Lads
Congratulations
on a fantastic victory on Sunday; what a great way to bow out! As so
often the case this season you had to do it the hard way by going behind
(adding to my grey hair!) but in the end the quality of our team shone
through, resulting in a fully deserved 3-1 victory.
Man
of the Match has to go to Alfie for his superb hat-trick leaving me a
match ball light but, fortunately, no longer required!
It's
been a challenging final season and at one point I wasn't sure we would
be able to see it out due to our dwindling numbers but, whether it be
playing with 10 players, or accepting the help from the younger age
group we managed to muddle our way through. Unfortunately, we still had
to concede 3 matches when everything seem to conspire against us but
despite all this we still manage to finish 5th place in the league,
which I think is a fantastic achievement given the circumstances, and
then to go on and win the League Cup.....well what can I say!
I
write this final blog with mixed emotions, as there are things I won't
miss that much like training in the winter, having to face stinging shots
in goal(!) or putting the nets up on a Saturday morning but other things
I certainly will, which is mainly you guys and watching you play great
football.
I
really couldn't have hoped to manage a nicer group of lads and it's been
an absolute pleasure working with you all and seeing many of you grow
up and develop into excellent footballers. Hopefully you all have some
fond memories of playing for Central, I certainly have from watching
you, and I wish you all very the best for the future. For those who
continue to play football I will keep an eye out on your progress and
you will no doubt see me from time to time supporting from the side
lines.
Finally,
I would like to say a big thank you to Dean for all his help and
support over the past couple of years –- I would have really struggled
without it.
Best wishes and good luck for your GCSE exams
Jon
