Hi all

I know the season has only recently ended but I could do with a heads up regarding numbers for next season, as I have already had a number of enquiries from new players interested in joining us.  Therefore, if the following applies to you I would appreciate you letting me know asap so that I can ensure we have a full squad next season:
  • Not intending to register again for next season
  • Intending on doing the Ten Tors event again (I was fortunate to be able to change fixtures last season due games being spread out over a longer period but I've been told this is unlikely to be the case next season)
  • Likely to miss several games due to other sports/interests.
Thanks.

Jon

Cullompton Rangers 2-7 Central United

Coming off the back of a disappointing result at the weekend and going a goal down in the first couple of minutes on Wednesday it was a good to see some character from you all to come back and finish the season on a high note with a comfortable 7-2 victory.

Man of the Match was a real tricky one to call but I think Alfie just about edges it for his 6 goal rout!!

I hope you have all enjoyed yourselves this season; thank you for your efforts and a big well done for achieving our highest ever finish.  We've shown progression ever year since the days of being rock bottom of Division 2 and enduring some hammerings (remember the 14-0 Bideford trip!!) to winning a cup, getting promotion and now establishing ourselves as a strong Division 1 team with a respectable top half finish and reaching the semi finals of the cup.  Lets look to improve on that again next season!

As discussed after the game i'm more than happy to arrange the odd kickaround at KGV over the summer for those who want to come along, so I'll be in touch.

Enjoy the break!

Jon

Central United 2-4 Sidmouth Raiders

It was a much improved Sidmouth Raiders team on Saturday but still a team we should have beaten.  We were lacklustre and played like the season was already over and as a result come unstuck.

Zak Milling put us ahead with a calmly taken penalty but Sidmouth equalised before half time via one of their dangerous long throws into the box. They came out the more energetic in the second half and deserved to go ahead but instead of this kicking us into action our play got scrappier and it wasn't long before Sidmouth extended their lead.  We eventually hit back with an Alfie goal but Sidmouth then got another to put game out of reach.

Man of the Match goes to Oakley who was at the heart of most of our attacks and displayed some brilliant skill on the ball which was great to watch.

We play Cullompton Rangers on Wednesday at Speed Meadows, Cullompton, EX15 1DW, 6.30pm KO, so can we meet at 6pm.  Squad for the game is:

Ollie
Joseph
Luke
Asher
George
Ted
Pacey
Oakley
Zac B
Zak M
Zak WD
Francis
Marcus
Alfie

See you then!

West Exe 0-9 Central United

It was our most comprehensive win of the season on Wednesday so well done lads!  Despite playing on what closer resembled a meadow than a football pitch we played some great football and scored some fantastic goals.

Man of the Match goes to Alfie who was virtually unplayable and bagged another 4 goals.

Mentions for Asher who claimed his first goal for Central with an brilliant glancing header; Oakley for his creativity in midfield and getting a much deserved goal and also Francis and Zak Milling who displayed some superb skills and close control.

Our next training session is Wednesday at KGV, 6.30 -7.30pm.

Note that our game on 13th May against Sidmouth Raiders has been switched to KGV, 10.30am KO, and our last game of the season against Cullompton has been brought forward to Wednesday 17th May, 6.30pm KO.

Have a good weekend!

Jon
