Central City 2-5 Central United

Well done all for an excellent performance on Wednesday; it was a massive improvement on recent games.  Playing 4-4-2 definitely helped, bolstering up the midfield and also providing more support up front.

Two Alfie goals made through shear determination gave us a healthy half time lead but there was still plenty to do against a resiliant City team, who are notorious for never giving up, and that proved to be the case when they got a goal back early in the second half, capitalising on a momentary lapse of concentration.

Our response was good, though, and it wasn't long before Matt restored the 2 goal advantage with a deflected shot that looped over the City keeper.  Alfie extended the lead with a goal, right out of the top drawer, to claim a well earned hat-trick.  City hit back with another to keep the game alive but once again we responded well getting another goal from a brilliant thumping volley by Matt, claiming his second of the game.

Man of the Match goes to Alfie for scoring a really impessive hat-trick against a strong City defence.

There were so many other good performances, it's hard to single out just a couple for mentions!

Thank you once again to Zak M for standing in for Ollie and doing a great job.

There's no training tomorrow or Monday but we have a game Tuesday against West Exe at Barton Fields, 6.30pm KO, so can we meet at 6pm please.

Central United 1-0 Sidmouth Warriors

It wasn't the most convincing of wins on Wednesday evening but it was still a win and with a clean sheet too so I can't moan too much!  We started the match really well, completely dominating and playing some nice football but as the game went on we seem to lose  fluency; the long grass certainly not helping matters.

Going 3 at the back and pushing Marcus up top for the second half had a immediate impact and he created an assist for Zak WD to score from close range, which in the end proved enough for us to win the game.

Man of the Match goes to Zac Burnard for another excellent hard working performance in midfield.

A mention for Luke who also had a really strong game at full back

There will be no training Saturday but there will be on Monday at KGV, 6-7pm and then it's Central City on Wednesday, 6.30pm KO.

Have a nice weekend!

Sidmouth Warriors 1-2 Central United

A well fought win yesterday chaps on what was a very narrow and bobbly pitch that certainly wasn't conducive to free flowing football, reflected in the 0-0 half time scoreline.

We took the lead early on in the second half though Zak Milling who caught out the Sidmouth keeper with a long range looping shot into the far corner and from then on we look pretty much in control of the game, however Sidmouth managed to equalise by rescuing a ball that looked like it was going out for a goal kick and then set up their striker for an easy tap in.

Despite our pressure searching for a winner it looked like we were going to run out of time  but then George drove home a brilliant left foot volley on the turn to seal the 3 points.

Man of the Match goes to Ollie for some excellent goal keeping including a couple of fantastic saves at crucial times in the match.

I'll be at KGV 6-7pm on Monday for training and we meet Sidmouth Warriors again on Wednesday at KGV, 6.30pm KO.

Saturday

Hi all

Saturday's game is against Cullompton Rangers at KGV.  Can we meet at 10am for 10:30am KO please.

The players i'm aware are missing for this game are, Ollie, George, Luke and Zak WD.  If anyone else is unable to make it please let me know asap.

Regarding other fixtures, the 2nd May (Tuesday) has been penciled in to play West Exe and the 26th April (Wednesday) for Central City.  Can you let me know by end of the week if either of these dates are a problem.  I'm aware Isca are holding a Borneo school trip meeting on the 26th April so not sure if this affects anyone?

Thanks.

Jon
