Training

Training at Exeter School has finished for the season so our next session will be on Thursday at KGV 6.30pm to 7.30pm.  We don't have a game on 4th April and there will be no training either.  Training the following week will be on Wednesday or Thursday before playing our last game on 11th April against Brixington United - I will confirm nearer the time.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Crediton Youth 3-5 Central United

Well done for winning our 5th game in a row yesterday.  The 5-3 scoreline made the game look a lot closer than it actually was.  After playing so brilliantly in the first 20 minutes and scoring 3 goals in quick succession we got a bit too casual in our play and gifted Crediton a couple of goals, however the penalty for their second goal was a ridiculous decision.

Marcus, Francis and Pacey got on the scoresheet all with well worked goals.

Man of the Match goes to Francis for stepping up to cover the centre midfield role and doing such a good job - well done Francis.

I've still not had some Player's Player of the Year nominations, I have to give this to Nigel tomorrow so any received after then will not be counted.

See you at training tomorrow.

Sunday 8 March 2015

Exeter Panthers 0-2 Central United

Another win and another clean sheet, well done lads!  It was a patchy start to the game and it took us a while to find our rhythm on what was a narrow pitch but the breakthrough eventually came via a superb predatory strike from Matt; Marcus soon made it 2-0 displaying some great control and a finish to match.

We had most of the play in second half and went very close on a few occasions but Panthers defended well and their keeper pulled off an amazing save to deny George scoring a brilliantly struck free kick.

Man of the Match goes to our captain, Ollie, for some amazing reflex saves towards the end of the game; had one of them gone in it would have been a nervy last few minutes!  Some good kicking too so well done Ollie.

Remember there's no game next week as Brixington have a cup game.  You all seemed keen to get together for some training which i'm happy to do - hopefully I'll be able to find some space at KGV but i'll let you know.

See you Monday.

Sunday 1 March 2015

Central United 2-0 CS Leopards

Superb performance yesterday chaps.  We were by far the better team but Leopards' dominant centre half still made them hard to break down but your persistence in letting the ball do the work paid off and in the end we could have won by at least 2 or 3 more goals.

It was a shaky start to the game having to defend a few corners in quick succession but it wasn't long before we took control of the game and started to create good chances.  Matt put us ahead being quick to capitalise on a mistake by the Leopards keeper and was also very unlucky not to get another later in the game when he did everything right when through on goal but was denied by the upright.

Our second goal was very satisfying to see, as it's exactly what we have been working on recently.  Marcus got to the byline, looked up and whipped in a menacing cross for Zac Burnard, who was once again outstanding, to volley home emphatically.

Man of the Match goes to Ted for keeping things tight at the back with some brilliant defending - well done Ted.

See you at training tomorrow.
