Hi all
There is training tomorrow as normal but then that's it until the New Year as Axminster are unable to raise a team for Saturday's match. I have contacted a few manager's to bring a game forward or to play one of our postponed matches but had no joy i'm afraid.
If I don't see you tomorrow have a great Christmas!

Training tomorrow
Hi all
I'm afraid I've been unable to find a team to give us a friendly tomorrow, so it will be training at Exeter School, 6.30-7.30pm. The code for the gate on Barrack Road is 462991.
We have our first game of the season on Saturday against Heavitree at KGV (we are home team). Please be there for 10am for a 10:30am KO. I'm aware that Matt and Marcus are away so it's important others let me know if you are unable to play.
Thanks.

Training
A Wednesday training slot has become available at Exeter School, 7.30-8.30pm, which I'm keen to switch to this season, as it would mean we get half a pitch instead of just a quarter which wasn't enough for us last season, especially having a younger age group right next to us.
Hopefully this works for most of you but let me know if not as if impacts too many then we'll have to keep the Monday session. I have a few days before I need to confirm.
Regarding Saturday, I've been told blades and metal studs are not permitted.

Saturday's friendly
Hi all
Saturday's friendly has been brought forward to 10am KO, so please meet at 9.30am. Address is Ennerdale Way, Exwick, EX4 2HY.
It's a 3G pitch and I think molded and blade boots are ok but make sure you bring your astros just in case.
Alphington have kindly agreed to pay for the pitch hire but we are going halfs on a referee, as I will need to run the line in Dean's absence, so if you could contribute £1 each towards this it would be much appreciated.
We have a few missing so if you are unable to make it please let me know, otherwise I look forward to seeing you then!

Reminder
Hi all
Just a reminder that we have a few friendlies coming up so please let me know if you are unable to make any of them.
Also, I am being chased by the club for Registration Forms as they have not had any in yet from U16s. Getting every player registered on the FA system before the season starts is a big task for the club, so may I ask that you return the form asap. If you need a hard copy let me know.
Next training session is Tuesday at KGV, 6 to 7pm, so look forward to seeing you then!
Regards

2018/19 Season
Hi all
I hope you're all having a great summer.
We're only a month away the start of the 2018/19 season, opening fixtures are on the 8th September although due to DofE commitments for some of you I might have to re-arrange our game.
It would be good to wrap up the paper work and payments asap, so may I ask that you complete and return the Registration Form (click here) and arrange payment. If are not going to register this season it's important you let me know.
The cost for the season is £160 (£140 with £20 discount applied if paid before start of the season) and can be split over 2 payments (£10 discount for each if paid on time). There is an an additional discount of £30 for those who have siblings at the club.
Our first training session is on Monday 13th August at KGV, 6.30-7.30pm and I have arranged the following pre-season friendlies:
Alphington U15's who won their league last season are looking for stiffer test so I accepted a friendly against them on Saturday 25th August on The College 3G pitch in Exwick, 11:30am KO.
Wednesday 29th August - Exmouth Ammies at KGV, 6.30pm KO.
Saturday 1st September - Central AC U15's at KGV, 10:30am KO.
I'm waiting to hear back on a confirmed date in the first week of September for our annual Lympstone friendly on the estuary.

Divison 1 runners-up
Central City did us a big favour on Wednesday night by beating Twyford 3-1, meaning whatever the outcome of their last game against Alphington we will finish Division 1 runners-up so congratulations, you should be very proud of yourselves.
This is a fantastic achievement in a league that has been very competitive this season. We have played some amazing football, scored incredible goals (Kaden's acrobatic goal against Colyton will live long in the memory), defended gallantly and managed to win every game played in 2018 which is no mean feat. Aside from the Alphington fixture where we were unable to raise a team, we only actually lost 2 games all season.
Congratulations to Oakley for winning Player of the Year, Luke for Players Player of the Year and Matt for Most Improved Player of the Year. Also, well done to Alfie for finishing as our top goalscorer with an impressive 24 goals, including a number of great hat-tricks.
There is a league presentation evening at the Corn Exchange on 10th June. As runners-up you will all receive a medal and it would be good to see as many of you as possible there to represent the club. U14s and U15s awards are scheduled between 8.15-9.15pm so you will not need to be there for long - http://www.exeteryouthleague.co.uk/
Thinking ahead to next season, it looks like we will need to increase numbers slightly but by how many will depend on you letting me know your plans for next season, so can you all let me know asap, by text or email, if you are a YES, NO or a maybe.
Well done lads and thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable season!

Central City 0-3 Central United
It was our 2nd game in 48 hours and whilst the pitch was a far cry from what we played on on Monday evening at least the conditions were cooler. Right from the start it was clear City were up it and we were in for a tough encounter. The first goal would be important one and fortunately it came in our favour early on when Oakley's quick feet lead to him being brought down inside the box and Alfie kept his composure under pressure to slot home the resultant penalty kick.
We improved as the half went on and began to dominate the match with some excellent football and we took a 2-0 lead when Oakley produced, what is becoming bit of a trademark goal, another wonder strike from long range.
Playing up the deceptive slope in the second half we still had it all to do against determined opposition. City started to gain more possession and applied the pressure in a bid to get back into the game but were unable to make the break through due to some excellent defending. Towards the end of the half City were becoming more and more stretched in having to chase the game and Alfie capitalised with some great chasing down to score from close range to make it 3-0.
Another superb performance demonstrating that as well as playing some great football and scoring goals we can also be dogged at the back too.
Man of the Match goes to Oakley, for pulling all the strings in midfield and of course that fantastic goal!
Now we have to sit and wait, tentatively, to see if we have done enough to hold on to 2nd place!

Colyton 2-5 Central United
It was a beautiful evening but on the hot side for football, so understandibly the game didn't start at a high tempo but it wasn't too long before we got a foothold in the game through two quick fire Alfie goals, the second of which was a brilliant solo effort.
At 2-0 we eased off slightly and things got a bit sloppy allowing Colyton to get one back before half time. It wasn't long into the second half before we restored the 2 goal advantage with an absolute stunner from Oakley into the top right corner.
Our forth came after some great passing down the left side played in Kaden who shimmied onto his right foot and struck a crisp shot across the keeper and into the right hand side of the goal.
Colyton got another after a small spell of pressure but we replied almost immediately after Alfie, who was a thorn in Colyton's side all evening, bagged another hat-trick.
Another win, some fanastic football and top quality goals on a night that we could have easily hit double figures if it wasnt for some amazing saves by the Colyton keeper.
Man of the Match goes to Kaden who once again provided great entertainment with his incredible skill on the ball and superb goal.

Central United 3-1 Axminster Town
On a pitch that resembled a meadow more than a playing surface and against a physical Axminster team this was a potential banana skin fixture, so it was important we didn't concede the first goal for the 4th consecutive match. Zac Burnard made sure this wasn't the case when he out jumped his marker to direct a good header past the Axminster keeper to put us 1-0 up.
Whilst we were the better side for the rest of the half, Axminster missed two really good chances to equalise; emphasising that more goals were needed. In the second half two came in quick succession via a brilliant solo goal by Alfie who then turned provider with a great low cross into the 6 yard box for Matt to run onto and blast home to make it 3-0.
With about 10 minutes to go Axminster got a glimmer of hope when the referee aloud a free kick to be taken a long way from the originating foul, which ended up being scrambled into the net for what ended up to be just a consolation goal.
Man of the Match goes to Zac Burnard for getting that all important first goal and putting in real shift in midfield despite not feeling 100%.
Well done all for another great result, only two more games to go with second place still all to play for!
Colyton - Monday 7th May, 6.30pm KO

Central United 4-3 St Martins
What a fantastic game of football on Tuesday night. In the first half we looked a shadow of the team that played on Saturday and soon found ourselves 2-0 down, which it remained until half time leaving us with a mountain to climb but an early 2nd half goal by Oakley, a stunner from outside the box right into the top corner, changed the match.
From that moment on we took the game by the scruff of the neck and were the better team. An in-form Alfie got on the scoresheet yet again to level things before a St Martins own goal put us ahead 3-2.
The last 10 minutes saw plenty of St Martins pressure and it looked like we would hold on until they broke through and equalised just before 80 minutes was up but the game was not over; in the dying seconds of injury time Ollie produced a huge kick that bounced high over the St Martins keeper and Alfie reacted the quickest to get on the end of it to side foot the ball into the net for the winner.
Another really impressive display lads, once again coming from behind to beat a strong team. The win takes us 2nd in the league with 3 games to play.
Man of the Match goes to Marcus who was superb at the back.
Next training is Wednesday 6.30-7.30pm at KGV followed by Axminster home on the Saturday.
For those who can make it, the end of season awards are on Sunday at The Corn Exchange, 2pm.

Central United 6-4 Heavitree Youth
It's was only our third game of year and with only a bare 11 and no Ollie in goal against a strong Heavitree team we certainly had our work cut out. For the first 10 minutes or so we were nervy, mistiming tackles and looking like a team that had not played for some time and Heavitree took full advantage of this going ahead with a long range strike right into the top corner leaving Zak with no chance to save.
Almost immediately after that we started to find our feet and it wasn't long before we hit back when Marcus did really well to get on the end of high ball in the box and loop a header over the Heavitree keeper. From that moment on we went from strength to strength playing some brilliant football and Alfie ran the Heavitree defence ragged scoring a hat-tick to give us a impressive 4-1 lead. Just before half-time some casual passing across the back lead to Heavitree pulling a goal back.
In the second half Alfie bagged 2 more excellent goals to extend our lead to 6-2 which looked to have wrapped up the points for us until Heavitree got their third followed by a sustained spell of pressure but some solid defending and some good saves by Zak kept them at bay.
What a brilliant performance and great win - well done lads!
Man of the Match has to go to Alfie for his work rate and 5 brilliantly taken goals.
A big thank you to Zak Milling for stepping up and going in goal. As an outfield player it's not easy to play in goal but Zak made some important saves and was excellent coming off his line to collect lose balls.
No training Monday as we have a game against St Martins on Tuesday at KGV. I will let you time but i'm trying to arrange for 6pm KO. Please let me know if you are unable to make it.

Next week
Hi all
I've had no response from the league which probably means we are not allowed to play our game against Alphington on a different date and therefore have to forfeit the points. As numbers are so low tomorrow there is no training but I'm thinking a longer session Wednesday would be a good idea as we might actually be playing a game of football next Saturday!
Can you let me know asap if your son can make training at KGV on Wednesday 6-7.30pm and the game on the 14th April against Heavitree.
Also, Players Player of the Year nominations please.
Thanks.

No training
Hi all
Just to confirm KGV is still waterlogged so no training this evening. I'll see how it is Wednesday and let you know as would be good for those available to catch up for a kickabout.

A few things
Hi all
A few things to mention. This year's awards day is being held on the 22nd April at the Corn Exchange, 2pm start. I know we still have lots of games still to play but the club needs to order trophies so I have to submit the winners by 6th April. Please cast your minds back (when we played some football!) and let me have your top 2 nominations for Players Player of the Year before this date.
Our game against Colyton (away) has been rearranged for 7th May (bank holiday), 6pm KO. Please let me know if you are unable to make this.
Unfortunately, it looks like we are going to have to concede the points for our game against Alphington next Saturday as we are unable to field a team due to so many being away. I have asked the league if we can move the game to an evening midweek but I don't hold out much hope that they we allow this.
Have a nice Easter!

Re-arranged fixture
Our home game against St Martins will be played on Tuesday 17th April, 6.30pm KO.
Sunday, 25 February 2018
Central United 2-1 Twyford Spartans
Twyford always provide tough opposition and yesterday was no different. The first 20 minutes or so possession was fairly even but despite us having the better chances Twyford went ahead with their first shot on goal. Our response was good and we created several more good chances but were desperately unlucky at times, particularly when Oakley's brilliant long range shot struck the cross bar and bounced close to the line and away from goal. Twyford on the other hand were restricted to just one clear cut chance that was thwarted by a great save from Ollie.
Despite being a goal down at half time we all felt a win was still well within reach and we just needed to get that first goal and more would follow. That first goal came when Zak Burnard pounced on a loose ball in the box and thumped the ball into the back of the net. After that we grew in confidence and played some fantastic football but some dogged defending kept us at bay, until Oakley delivered a inch perfect corner to the edge of the six yard box for Kaden to leave his marker and meet with a glancing header into the right hand corner of the goal, which ended up being the match winner.
Man of the Match goes to Kaden who was the provider of several good chances, was virtually unplayable at times with his mesmerising skill on the ball and also scored the winning goal.
There were lots of other strong performances but the other stand out one was Zac Burnard who not only got us back in the game with a goal but was excellent in midfield and also at centre back when called upon to fill that role for the last 30 minutes.
Another big well done lads for a great win in a game where a scoreline of 4 or 5-1 would not have flattered us. That puts us 2nd in the table btw!
See you Monday at training.
Jon
PS. I have provisionally arranged our St Martins game at KGV for Tuesday 17th April. Please let me know today or tomorrow if you are unable to make it as I need to submit a form to the league.

Sidmouth Warriors 2-3 Central United
After nearly 2 months without a match yesterday's away fixture on a small rain sodden pitch was always going to be tricky.
We made a decent enough start to the game and went ahead via a long range curling shot from Oakley that caught out the Sidmouth keeper. For a decent spell after that we looked comfortable and should have extended our lead but were denied by some excellent saves. Sidmouth fought hard to get themselves back in the game, starting to play the better football and eventually getting a deserved equaliser.
A productive half time team talk and a bit of a reshuffle saw us get back on top at the start of the second half but it was looking like it was going to be another one of those games for us when Alfie struck the inside of the post and saw the ball bounce back into the keepers hands but eventually our second goal did come and Oakley's too with another superb long range shot that sailed over the keeper into the roof of the net.
Sidmouth were not done, though, equalising again and it was looking like the points would be shared until Oakley launched a massive free kick from deep in our half for Alfie to run onto and expertly put away to get a much deserved goal to bag us the 3 points.
So, not the most polished performance but a gritty one that got the job done - well done lads!
Man of the match has to go to Oakley for his 2 goals, 1 assist and excellent work rate in midfield.

Happy New Year
Happy New Year to you all!
It seems a long time ago now but a quick summary on our last match against St Martins. As expected it was a close contest with both teams creating several great chances, most of them denied by some brilliant goalkeeping, but it was St Martins who managed to put one away and hold on for a 1-0 victory.
Man of the Match goes to Ollie for pulling off some great saves.
Training resumes on Monday at Exeter School usual time so look forward to seeing you then!
