Alphington 3-0 Central Utd

Another 3-0 loss against Alphington and again an unfair reflection on the game.  Whilst Alphington had more possession in the first half and played some excellent football we actually had the better chances and could have easily found ourselves 2-0 up but a lapse in concentration saw them, fortuitously, take the lead.  Their second came soon after but this time via a well taken goal.

Whilst disappointed and surprised at being 2-0 down the half time team talk was still positive and this was taken into the second half when we were the better team but despite lots of endeavour, unfortunately, we couldn't find the back of the net. Going 3 at the back for an extra man up front for the last 20 it was inevitable Alphington would get a chance which they did and managed to put it away which was a real proverbial kick in the teeth.

As mentioned after the game, despite the loss there's a lot to be positive about, especially the second half performance.  Alphington are the best team in the league but they certainly knew they had been in a game and will feel fortunate to win by a 3 goal margin.

Man of the Match goes to Euan for his constant closing down and link up play in attack.

Luke deserves a mention for some more brilliant defending.

See you tomorrow for our last training session of the year!
