Central United 2 - 9 West Exe Youth

Well….. I think its best to be completely honest with you boys, and I thought that the manner of yesterday's defeat was a little  disappointing.  We started the game quite well and things were pretty even for first 10 minutes but then we conceded a goal and for the rest of the half we lost heart.  We gave them far too much space and seemed quite happy to let them shoot without closing them down or getting any sort of challenge in, with the exception of George who worked tirelessly in this area and for this he gets the captains armband next game - well done George!

Well into the second half, our new signing Pacey scored a fully deserved goal and then all of a sudden you started playing again with Francis, who was showing some real quality down the left wing, getting us a second shortly after; we also went very close with several other attempts and were unlucky not to get a couple more - it shows that you can do it when you want to!

You're a great bunch of lads and all have ability but it's very frustrating not seeing you fulfil your potential due to being too considerate to other teams and showing a lack of determination - this has to change if you want to win games - after all we are playing competitive football this year.

Anyway, the good news is we have plenty more games to put things right and we are going to be taking a different approach in training going forward that should help.

Something else I wanted to mention is that we have a squad of 14 players meaning that if everyone is present we have 5 subs (more than half a team) making it impossible to give everyone a full game, so don't be disheartened if you get taken off as it's not because you are playing badly just that i'm trying to be fair and make sure everyone gets a decent amount of game time.

Being sub is a good opportunity to practice and get to know your team mates better, so in future games I will be giving you some drills to do together.

I look forward to seeing you at training tomorrow.
